RISING FIRE number 1 in YWO December Bestsellers!

Rising Fire wins professional literary critique on Youwriteon

A certain amount of dancing round the room is going on here. Yes! I can't wait to read my critique from a professional in publishing.

Not because I think it's likely to be ecstatic - I don't, I'm expecting it to be fairly harsh since I am aware there are still a lot of things that could be improved in the start of Rising Fire. It's not as well-written as Trav Zander. And not because I think there's any chance the critiquer will be so impressed he/she will sign me up! That is the stuff of fantasy, and has happened to fewer than 1% of those authors who've been critiqued.

No, I am interested to know if there might be a market for my books, and if I have any chance at all of getting published...

Final gloat (sorry): all four of my pieces (two novels, two short stories) on Youwriteon are now in the Bestseller Chart.

  2. My lawyers will be in touch with your lawyers regarding your use of clever lure-links to your website in YWO messages.

Oh, and congrats! Told you so!

  3. Thanks, chaps!

Alan: 'Lure-links' - is that what they're called?

I didn't get where I am today without recognizing an idea worth nicking, and nicking it.

  4. Yeah, Lure-links it is. I made it up whilst "commenting" to you. Think we can copyright it?

Your new Achievable Goal is to get assigned to "Gov Work" and give it all fives!

  5. Hmmm...copyrighting it...why not? How fast are your lawyers compared to mine (Swiftly, Niptin & Dunnit)?

'Gov Work' would suit me. I've removed a dud or two lately I thought beyond help.

  6. I will have my people of the firm Dewey, Cheatham and Howe (shamelessly stolen from the Click and Clack radio show) meet with your people from Swiftly, Niptin & Dunnit. Between the two firms I imagine they will mess it up splendidly.

  8. I echo everyone's congratulations.

I think your next goal should be to get Alan's and my stories in the top five.

You do seem to have the touch.

    All the best to you.

  9. Thanks, Norm.

I remember thinking when I joined YWO that it works for some people.

I'm quite surprised to find I am one of those people. There are many better writers on the site who've done less well.

Of course, my low cunning, opportunism and devious strategies helped...

  12. That's fab, Lexi - well done, you! And it does help - I'm convinced that the YouWriteOn award-winning status of "A Dangerous Man" helped Flame make the decision to publish.

    Good luck!

Encouraging, what you say about success on YWO helping to get 'A Dangerous Man'into print...

  14. Well done Lexi.

The professional crits are well worth winning, they really help identify strengths and weaknesses.

I bet you'll be checking your e-mail lots in the coming weeks, waiting for it to pop into your inbox!
