Sorry, just couldn't resist...

This is for all of you who, like me, have grown to like spiders (though my favourites are zebra spiders, clever, big-eyed and good at jumping). This spider will follow your pointer in a friendly way; if he's lurking out of view just click on the white space.

  1. That spider is yeuchy!! (according to Muttie) But I don't think so. If it comes my way I'll eat it...hee, hee.

  4. Hi Milton, you are the first cat to visit my blog. I won't suggest you lay off the spiders, as it's no good telling cats anything. They just give you a look.

Robert, we had a memorable Tegenaria that moved in behind the loo. He was so big one or two hairy legs generally stuck out, and unnervingly fast. We called him Lurk. It took me two weeks to catch him so I could relocate him outside. I favour the glass and postcard method, but for Lurk I needed a pudding basin.

  5. Creepy! Makes me smile, though I'm not one who likes spiders! I could tell some spider stories.

I came here from Old Kitty. I like your blog. And I'm interested in taking a look at your fantasy novels. It's not my favorite genre, but there are some that I like.

  6. Thanks for dropping by, Ann.

You might enjoy my fantasy novels - non-fantasy enthusiasts usually do (I must have done them all wrong). There are links to them on the sidebar.

Perhaps in time you will learn to love spiders - I did.

  9. Hi Jarmara!

So which are your favourite spiders? As well as zebra spiders, I like the little green ones I get on my balcony, any orb web spiders, and cellar spiders who look like wimps but are actually ferocious predators.

  10. Like you, it's zebra.. They are so interesting to watch. Crab spiders are so beautiful. you find them living on flowers in your garden. They wait with their arms outstretch for any thing to come by to eat.

Deadly but so beautiful they come in two colours white or yellow.

  11. I think I may have those, or a near relative, but they are beige. I've seen them motionless on bay tree buds, pretending to be wallpaper, or nature's equivalent.

  12. I think I find that spider's shadow the creepiest thing about it. I have AB's penguins on my home page. They're far less threatening.
Clever coding though. I love the things you can find for free on the internet. Although, when I say 'thank you for sharing this one', I'm not totally sure I mean it. I avoid spiders and request that they avoid me.

  13. Do they pay any attention, though? Spiders resemble cats in that it's not much use asking them to do things.

As I release them to the wild, I generally point out their lack of contribution to the mortgage, but I'm not sure they are listening.

  14. Cats are far more pleasant to have about the place though. They may do their own thing, but at least contribute to the household by chasing off spiders and being decorative. Your average spider's contribution to life is best demonstrated outdoors. If it won't agree with me, I will be ruthless. Or close the door and hope it's gone by morning...
