But first I want to mention DailyCheapReads UK, a great site for Kindle owners that features bargain ebooks including mine, nothing more than £6 and many for much less. It's hugely successful in America, and I'm sure the UK version will do equally well, as it's brilliant for finding good, affordable books. The two sparky women whose brainchild it is explain their policy here. Do check it out.
In the last week I've had several nice things happen. Remix's Kindle sales went over the 20,000 mark, and Replica sold its first 1,000. Replica has been chosen by the lovely kuffers at KUF (Kindle Users' Forum) as their May book of the month (or is it June? Anyway, they are reading it in May). I've signed a contract with Könyvmolyképző Kiadó for Hungarian editions of Remix, hardback, paperback and ebooks in 2012. I can't wait to see what the cover looks like.
And Replica has just popped into the UK Kindle top 100...
Woot!
Wow, nice going! Looks like you're on a roll. Thanks for the link, also. These blogs and forums really make a difference for us new writers.
ReplyDeleteThat's all brilliant, Lexi. Huge congrats, you're doing so well. Will you be having a Hungarian launch party? That would be fun!
ReplyDeleteAwwww Lexi you STAR!!! Yay for you!!! The print edition of Replica can't be far off now!! (OH come on, I must put that in my comment somehow!LOL!!)!! Yay!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! Cheers and more champers please!!! Take care
x
Man, I need to learn how to spell like a Brit and hang out on the KUF forum. :P Any fantasy lovers over there? ;)
ReplyDeleteJoking aside, congratulations on your continuing success!
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLindsay, why not drop in to KUF? Everyone is welcome. Alan Hutcheson is American, and he's there.
Brilliant news on all counts!
ReplyDeleteJealous as hell about the Hungarian edition!
With the Amazon Easter sale over and the prices going back to normal for most of the big names there's sure to be shake-up in the charts over the rest of this week, and that's bound to give Replica a much deserved boost.
Mark, Sugar & Spice is so high in the chart you must get dizzy looking down...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and well deserved too!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I am quite unattractively envious!
ReplyDeleteAre you updating the "ebooks sold so far" stat manually?
ReplyDeleteOver 20,000 for Remix is outstanding! I still don't understand why no UK publishers have approached you.
Alas there isn't a gizmo to do this - I update the stats over breakfast while checking emails etc..
ReplyDeleteI do wonder, if I can sell 20,000+ copies doing everything myself, how many Harper Collins could have sold...
Yep, makes a person wonder, don't it? But I do think that the sort of personal connection you have established with so many of your readers may never have happened with traditional publishing. And I've got to think that will serve you well as your career grows.
ReplyDeleteI've thought that about the Amazon forums - can you imagine if Jane Austen dropped in now and then, and we could talk to her about her novels? We'd all call her Jane and urge her to get on with the next book...
ReplyDeleteSome mainstream authors run popular websites for their readers, like Jasper Fforde, though, so maybe it's more one's personal style than a matter of indie/mainstream.
Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks x 3 :o)
