Time Rats 1 on pre-order

Yesterday evening Time Rats 1 The Trouble with Time went live for pre-order on Amazon, and nice readers who nominated the book on Kindle Scout got an email telling them how to get their free ebook.

It's quite strange, being used to doing everything myself, to have Kindle Press do it instead. I prefer to be the only person available to make mistakes, knowing I can correct them as soon as I spot them. I was fretting last night because their formatter hasn't put my chapter titles in the table of contents, thus resulting in a boring list of Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 etc. - just what I wanted to avoid. I've asked for this to be put right, and hope it will soon.

I'd be really grateful if my advance readers would write a review - even better if you copy your review so it's on both US and UK Amazon. Reviews do help to sell a book, and it doesn't matter how long or short they are.

Time Rats 1 will go on sale to the general public on April 5th. This is really exciting and nerve-racking. I feel so lucky to be in at the start of Kindle Press, which I think is going to be huge. Go Amazon!

  1. I got an email with a free copy!

Only, it will only let me download to the Cloud, then it doesn't appear anywhere. So I'll have to wait and buy my copy.

I hope amazon sort out the chapter heading list for you. It is really exciting!

    1. Oh dear - I had no trouble downloading mine. You could ring Customer Service and they'd sort it out, no doubt - or I could email you the Word doc, or a PDF? Just say the word.

    2. It looks like I used the .com site when I should have used .co.uk and having spoken to the .com people who were no help at all I've lost the will to pursue it.

If you'd like me to review it before the official date, then a .doc or .pdf would be great! Otherwise I'll just wait for my copy from amazon.co.uk to become available.

All these national borders for ebooks seem so silly to me.

    3. Kindle Scout is rather US-centric still, and you're right about the border thing. I suppose that's because of taxes? I've emailed you the Word doc - let me know if you have problems :o)

  3. The dilemma: do I read as fast as I can to find out what happens next? Or do I keep putting the book down so that it will last as long as possible?

    The answer is: both.

    1. Best to read it carefully, memorizing names and dates and making notes.

(What do you mean, no one told you there would be a test?)

    2. Whew! That's a relief! I know I was going to get a wrong timeline somewhere and where would the future of humanity be then?

  5. Today, Romance Writers of America® (RWA) announce the finalists for the best published books and unpublished manuscripts of 2015.

    My comment:

A favourite author that hasn't made these lists is Lexi Revellian. She didn't publish in 2015 so I can't complain, but her latest 'Trouble with Time' has just been released and is a stunning time travel romantic suspense. I wish she could be nominated for 2016! Assuming non-American authors qualify?

    1. Thank you for spreading the word, Q. I hadn't heard of the RITA Awards. Having looked at the rules, TR1 is a few thousand words short of their 84,000 word requirement. (I wonder how they arrived at that number?) Kindle Scout books have to be over 50,000, which may reflect the fact that ebooks are getting shorter, for one reason or another...

  6. This was an awesome book -I really, really enjoyed it -Curious about end of Chapter 18, but can not wait until Book 2. So glad I was able to nominate you on Kindle Scout. It was a good choice on my part. Thank you again! So many twists and turns -I could not put it down. I think I read it straight through and I have not met a book like that in years! Now, write and finish book 2.

    1. Hi survivor - SO pleased you enjoyed TR1, and thank you for nominating it on Kindle Scout :o)

      I've written about 40% of TR2.

It would be awesome if you could copy your comment here as a review on Amazon...
