I like this "book two" better than the first ideas you posted awhile back. Even though the backgrounds are different, the model seems the same. I like this combo a lot. Thumb's up from me: I haven't yet read them, but these covers would draw my interest. Covers and blurbs, what nightmares they can be!
All looks great to me, except I still think there should be a mechanical/cybernetic aspect to it somewhere to tie in with the title and story. It just looks too rural. That skinny android behind the tree needs to pop out!
Thing is, there really isn't much choice when you come to stock photos of androids. I thought it would be fun to have the rat on TIME RATS title a robot, but couldn't find or make a suitable one.
You have a capable-looking woman on the front holding a gun, and it's sci fi and it looks mysterious. I think this looks even better than book one (by a small margin) and I'd buy it.
But then I'd buy it anyway because it has your name on it and I bet I'm not your only reader to say that!
Yes, it just looks better if the model has a prop she's doing something with. More dynamic. But currently Amazon won't accept adverts for indie books with weapons on, so it seems sensible to avoid them.
(I think if you are concerned about people getting shot on a regular basis, the place to start is gun law, not book covers, but there you go.)
Both pictures need colouration work - the model looks out of place. The green street looks great - with the models face faded, full page looking at the reader, that would look great . Imho. I read on Kindle and don't look at covers anyway. It's all about the book..

ReplyDeleteThank you, Rebecca, one vote in favour! I can't 'see' it any more...
DeleteIt is the same model.

Thanks for the soothing words, FH. It'll be a relief when it's published and set in stone :o)
DeleteI agree with FH, though still have a slight preference for the other gun-toting view!

Hi Un! I have altered the colours rather a lot...
DeleteI've always thought covers important, but may be wrong. Some books have done brilliantly with quite bad covers.
Has the heatwave passed?
ReplyDeleteYes - suddenly it's autumn here. Still a bit humid, though.
DeleteLexi, Many Congrats on another kindle Scout success!!!
ReplyDeleteI imagine that the cover problem will blow away now.
I feel rather proud at picking another winner .... wish I was as good at stock market selections.
I can only congratulate you on your good taste, Q :o)
ReplyDeleteI nominate books on Kindle Scout regularly, and have picked 13 winners out of 68. 19.12% - not sure if that's good or bad.
Belatedly, love the new one! Much better.
ReplyDelete:)
You putting that one on KS too or am I drastically behind the times??
Put it on KS, got selected, now gloating! Must blog.
DeleteGlad you like cover 3.
